The Burglar

Those WERE my things
And now they’re yours
Or are they in a dumpster
You took them thinking
You might find
An answer to your slump sir

All the things inside that bag
Important to my work
I’ll replace them if I can
But you remain a jerk

If it’s money that you wanted
Why take clothing, glasses, bag
You’re not needy
You’re just greedy
On my conscience
Do you nag

You do things
That foster hate
Cowards don’t discriminate
Can you ever learn to see
The damage you have done to me

Yet Thank You for your act of theft
You could have been much more bereft
Of love and light
Of future pending
Merely
you’re concerned with spending

If you were the violent type
Reckless vengeance
Anger ripe
You might have taken so much more
But you have left me merely sore

From sore and limping
I can heal
These things of mine that you did steal
Are not my health and Love and Light
You spared me those

At least tonight…
